Why we're building this

Holiday planning has become a chore. Open a search, drown in sponsored listings. Open a review site, watch a thousand strangers fight over a Cornish pasty. The information is there — too much of it, too flat, too algorithmically nudged.

We thought: what if you had a friend in Padstow? Someone who'd been here a long time, who knew which bakery was worth the queue and which walk the dog could manage. What if you could just ask them, in plain words, and get a plain answer back?

That's the product. A conversation, not a search result.

How we build

Hand-picked, never scraped. Every food pick passes a review-score threshold and a food-hygiene check before it makes the catalogue. Walks are walked. Cafés are visited. If it's in the guide, someone has been there.

A voice per town. Padstow has Morwenna — lyrical, observant, harbour-and-moor. Newquay will have Jago — direct, salty. Fowey will have Demelza — quiet, a storyteller. The voice shapes the recommendations, because a place is more than its postcode.

Web, not app. No download, no account you'll forget. Open a link from a QR code by the harbour, and you're talking to your guide. At the end of your trip, you get a printable memory of every recommendation she made.

Who we are

TownInsider is built by Autaimate, a small independent studio in Padstow, Cornwall. We're not venture-backed, not a startup racing to land-grab — just people who think the small towns we love deserve better than what the algorithms give them.

Soft launch is July 2026, here in Padstow. If we earn the right, Newquay and Fowey come next.
